The Paper Province - A Top European Cluster in High Innovation Regions
The Paper Province coordinates and develops co-operation between participants in the pulp and paper technology business in Värmland, northern Dalsland and the county of Örebro in central Sweden.

Close proximity to raw materials, modern infrastructure and the central position in northern Europe make our region a global leader in this sector of industry.
Nowhere else in the world is home to such a large cluster of competence in pulp, paper and packaging. Around 200 companies with approx. 12.000 employees are active in the sector.
It all started in 1999!
The formation of The Paper Province network was a way to gather together local businesses active in the pulp and paper industry, along with customers, machinery suppliers, consultants and other service providers. The aim was to help market the region and support development through the reliable provision of competence.
Investing every year
One of the main reasons why the region's pulp, paper and packaging industry is so strong is that, in order to remain competitive, businesses have invested around SEK 1 billion every year for the past 12 years, both in staff and technology.
The industry also makes a major commitment to research and development and to quality and service.
World leaders!
The Paper Province includes many big names and well-known international companies such as Tetra Pak, Stora Enso, Billerud, Metso, Voith, Andritz, GL & V, Pöyry, etc. There are also smaller businesses with extremely professional staff supplying services and products to the major players, everything from chemicals, machinery and mechanical components to high-tech systems.
The university
The closeness to Karlstad University and its influences provide many advantages for the region. The Paper Province uses its strong ties to the university to identify and encourage new research and development projects.
Network
A large part of The Paper Province's activities is focused on networking, on co-ordinating and developing co-operation between the participants in the pulp and paper technology cluster in Värmland, northern Dalsland and the county of Örebro.
Activities also include marketing, competence procurement, project development and regional growth in partnerships with schools, the university and regional, national and international authorities.
